I doubt it. Steel is very different to aluminium especially in weight. Aluminium is probably the superior choice and is quite corrosion resistant. You will need someone with TIG or Gas welder to repair you chassis. Gas welding aluminium is a bit tricky and you tend to need big copper blocks to help absorb the heat.
